Gang of Four: I Found That Essence Rare

I wasn’t really into punk when I was a teen. Many of my friends were and I worried about them. I worried about their souls. I was a committed Christian at the time and stayed close to my wholesome Supertramp & Chicago records, where it was safe and warm.

Still, there was something about this music. It gave me goosebumps. And in the end, the music won and God lost. My only regret is that I wasted so many important teenage years avoiding The Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, and, yes, the Gang of Four.

This song is the perfect running song for me. I play it over and over and over as I run.
